Whilst social media brings us lots of joys from reconnecting and staying in touch with friends and family (and not to mention of course lots of funny cat videos) – it can be easy to see social media as a utopia of the modern world.
However, social media comes with it’s downside – my book Online Dystopia explores wide ranging important issues; from self-esteem, FOMO, algorithms and online pressures. We were never made to have so many people and so much information at our fingertips and for this to have such pressure and control on our daily lives. This publication reveals the unknowing dystopia that social media is and how we are falling victims to it.
Social media giants don’t care for the impact their platforms have on our mental wellbeing just as long as their algorithms keep us scrolling – because ultimately, our time equals their profits.
